Our course is designed ONLY and specifically for Virginia-based home-schooled students! Below is a quick step guide, but we will cover everything in great detail when you enroll in the course.

To apply for authorization to teach the behind-the-wheel portion, the parent will need to submit to the DMV: Form HS-1, a copy of the course completion certificate, and proof that the student is home-schooled.

More information found in DMV HS-3 guide.

  • null

Take your road skills driving test at the DMV.

When the student is at least 16 years and 3 months old and has completed their driver education course, the homeschool parent will sign a Home School Certificate of Enrollment, the student will complete form DL-1P, and visit a DMV Customer Service Center to take the road skills driving test.

  • null

    Obtain your Driver's License

The DMV will mail your driver’s license to the judge/court located in the student’s jurisdiction. The court will notify the student and parent when the court date to appear for their license is set. At this court date, the student will exchange their learner permit for their official and permanent driver’s license!
